Current Announcements as of July 28, 2010

PD is leaving RCC

Announcement: Last week, Pastor David shared the news that he has accepted a call to First Presbyterian Church in Ottumwa, Iowa (home of the TV character Radar O’Reilly of MASH). Ottumwa is a city of 30,000 people in SE Iowa, some 90 miles from Des Moines, IA, and about 30 miles from the Missouri border. Ottumwa is known as the city of bridges (seven of them), with the Des Moines River flowing through it. There are also about 30 churches within the city limits. Ottumwa is an old city, built upon rolling hills. (It will be difficult jogging.) They have outstanding medical facilities for the size of the community. Excel (who bought out John Morrell) and John Deere are major industries. Pastor David assumes his pastoral responsibilities on September 1st.

  • Church address: First Presbyterian Church, 228 West 4th Street, Ottumwa, IA 52501
  • Home Address: David and Liz, 114 Oakwood Avenue, Ottumwa, IA 52501

Our Moderator, assigned by the Classis of the Southwest, until we call a new Pastor, will be Rev. Ted VandeBerg of Cortaro Vista Reformed CHurch.

When Rev Klanderman leaves, the Vice-president of Consistory, Elder Audrey Mattson will be leading the Consistory.

One of the first tasks for the Consistory is to appoint a Search Committee. If anyone is interested in being on the Search Committee to find a new Pastor, talk to any member of Consistory.

We continue to extend an invitation to YOU! We invite you to make a commitment to Jesus, whether through the waters of baptism, a first time acceptance of Jesus as Lord and Savior, or the renewal of vows to follow Jesus by re-affirmation or transfer of membership from another church.
Please join the Elders in the Fellowship Hall at 6:30 p.m. during their monthly Consistory Meeting. We continue to watch for you. Call PD at 400-2817 for more information.
