STATEMENT OF FAITH by Rev. David Klanderman
What I believe!
- I believe in God as Creator and Maker of heaven and earth. God created everything and He did so by saying it. When He said it, it happened. I believe that God is the perfect balance of grace and judgment. I believe God is our Father. God is our parent who loves us because we are his children.
- I believe in Jesus Christ, God's Son shot down to earth miraculously in the womb of Mary, the perfect safest, place to hide the treasure that would save us from our sins. Christ was all man and all God. He lived with us and died for us in order to intercede to his Father on our behalf for the purpose of giving us the gift of eternal life if we confess our sins and cast our burdens upon him and believe He indeed is the way, the truth, and the life.
- I believe in the Holy Spirit, Christ's promise from God to send us The Comforter who does great things through us who believe in the power of the Spirit that lives in those that believe in God's Son.
- I believe in Heaven and Hell. We have a choice of which road we decide to travel. I believe that choice is a matter of eternal life or eternal death. We are in the life saving business for this very reason. Jesus commands us to go, to make disciples, to share with all people the good news of his love and saving grace.
- I believe that God communicates with us in many ways. One of those ways is through his Holy and Inspired Word. The Bible, all 66 books, is God's way He wrote down through the personalities of people whom He called to share the news too good not to be true. Because Christ died for us, His perfect written Word is the message, the lessons, the way and the truth of how we have been called to live out our lives and to show others and to share with others the way to live our lives as together we follow our Savior.
- I believe the Church is the Bride of Christ. We are Christ's church, that is, we share the story of salvation in Christ (en Christo) to all people. It is not the brick, mortar, liturgy, ritual or anything else you can think of except preaching Jesus Christ as the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father but by Jesus Christ.
- I believe we as Christians celebrate two sacraments together as a people of God, Holy Communion and Baptism, instituted by Christ when he walked the earth with us.
- I believe that Christians are called together on the first day of the week called The Lord's Day, where we commemorate the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead and celebrate through worship and rejoicing.
- I believe we are called to walk in the Spirit and to use the gift or gifts that are given to each of us by the Holy Spirit for the building up of the body of Christ until that day when Christ shall come again to claim ultimate victory over death and sin and evil.
