Our Denomination:
The Reformed Church in America

The Reformed part of Protestantism began from the Reformation of the 1500's led by Martin Luther and with John Calvin as its leading theological thinker. In 1628, in New Amsterdam, fifty people gathered to celebrate The Lords Supper. This was the birth of the Reformed Church in North America. That congregation continues today as the Collegiate Churches in New York City.
During the 1600's the congregations continued to expand. At the time of the Revolutionary War, some congregations split, and became part of the Presbyterian Church.
In 1819 the church incorporated as the Reformed Protestant Dutch Church. Finally, in 1867, it was renamed the Reformed Church in America.
Between 1949 and 1958 one hundred twenty new churches were started, including our own congregation and the Crystal Cathedral in Garden Grove, CA. In May 1953 a deposit was placed on a two acre site on Winsett Street. On August 4, 1953, Dr. Henry Beltman was called as the founding Pastor of the church. Ground breaking for Tucson Reformed Church began May 30, 1954. On April 6, 1998, the name was changed to Rosemont Community Church. Our current Pastor, Rev. David Klanderman, joined us on September 1, 2008.
